A glance at that told me I had no chance, already seven drummers listed amongst a good supply of guitarists bassists and singers, oh well I’ll enjoy the show and do some networking!
The lovely lady in charge of the jamming board was Pam Wiseman, Secretary of MBAS, I introduced myself and my dear wife, Lorraine. Pam was so happy to see us there and as we chatted she introduced me to John Jerman, MBAS President and MC of the Jam, right there at the corner of the crowded bar! We shook hands as he told me how excited he was for us at ARBA and the Adelaide scene and how wrapped he was with our progress and the Memphis Challenge. We talked about many things throughout the night as I was introduced to other movers shakers and players. There were many questions asked and many more answers given. I was so impressed the way the jam was run and how ordered, fun and successful it has become, the raffle that night for the guest artist CD raised over $300! The whole bar looked and felt like a blues club, there were Blues photos and art for sale adorning all the walls and a permanent MBAS banner above the bar. I had witnessed and thoroughly enjoyed a well run, true blues jam in a venue Melbourne Blues can proudly call home!
