With sadness, it is reported that Wayne Townsend, vocalist for popular SA jump-swing-blues outfit Jump Daddy’s, lost his protracted battle with cancer on New Year’s day, aged 54 years. A painter by trade, Wayne was the snappily-dressed ‘Jump Daddy’ showman for the group that with meticulous preparation, he led from 2001 and whose ‘The Bluesprint’ was co-winner of the 2012-13 Best SA Blues Album award. Wayne’s affable personality and admired talents will be missed by the music community and on its behalf, ARBA extends sincere condolences to his wife Angela, family and friends.
